Registering animals using an electronic tag reader
This guide tells you how to register animals using a file from a scanner you used to read RFID tags.
The first step is to download the file from your scanner. Scanners from some producers collect additional data, so before you upload it to the NAIT system you may have to edit the file from your scanner.
The file you can upload to the NAIT system may only include data in one column and must not have a title/description in the first row. Find out how to edit the files and see examples of correct files.
Next, log on to the NAIT ssytem. This will open your ‘Home’ page.
Click on ‘Register Animals’ at the top of the ‘Home’ page.

Select the option ‘Enter animal details’.

If you have more than one NAIT number, select the NAIT number you want to register animals at.
Click on ‘Upload a file with tag numbers’.

Browse for the file, select and click 'Open.

If any of the file data is invalid the NAIT system will show a warning.
You can view the details by clicking ‘View & edit’.
In this example, three out of five tag records are not useable for registering animals. In this example, the heading of the column (‘Electronic Tag’) was not removed and two tag numbers had already been registered previously.
You can either change the data by editing it and clicking on ‘Validate again’ or skip the incorrect files by clicking on ‘Continue’ with the two correctly read tags.
Next you will be asked to enter details for the animals to register. Finish the process by clicking on ‘Register’.

The NAIT system will confirm the registration of the animals.
