Lost or damaged tags
Though correctly applied NAIT approved RFID tags have a high retention rate, it is possible occasionally for tags to be lost or damaged.
If one of your animals loses a NAIT RFID tag you need to:
1) Retag the animal
If you still manage your herd using visual tags you may want to order a duplicate RFID tag matching the visual tag for the animal.
Alternatively, you can choose to use a traka tag.
2) Update the tag information in the NAIT system
If you can not identify which tag was lost, register the animal under the new tag in the same way you would register a newly tagged animal, for example a calf. Lifetime traceability will no longer be possible for this animal.
If you can identify the tag number of the lost tag you can simply replace the tag in the NAIT system.
To do this:
Log on to the NAIT system and click on the NAIT number the animal is registered against.

Click on ‘Registered Animals’ on the left-side menu.
Click on the ‘View’ button for the tag/animal on the right side of the screen.
On the animal details page, click on the ‘Replace Tag’ button.

Enter the new tag number and select ‘Tag lost’ as the reason for replacement. And click on ‘Continue’ to finish the process.
If a tag on an animal has been damaged, please contact NAIT to request permission to remove it before retagging the animal.
