Tagging rules update

Farmers will no longer have to use official Animal Health Board (AHB) secondary ear tags on cattle and deer once the NAIT scheme comes into effect on 1 July 2012 for cattle, and 1 March 2013 for deer.

NAIT Act becomes law

1 March 2012

The National Animal Identification and Tracing Act has been given the Royal assent by the Governor-General on 20 February 2012 and will become law and come into effect on 1 July.

NAIT Bill passes third Parliamentary reading

16 February 2012

On 15 February 2012 the NAIT Bill passed its third and final reading in Parliament. Once the Governor-General has given the Bill the Royal assent, the NAIT Act will become law and come into effect on 1 July.

Register for your NAIT number now

People in charge of cattle and deer can now register for the National Idenitification and tracing (NAIT) scheme, set to be mandatory from 1 July 2012 and deer from 1 March 2013.

Apply to become NAIT-accredited

NAIT-accredited information providers will be able to provide information to NAIT Limited to help people in charge of cattle or deer meet their NAIT obligations.
