How to apply NAIT ear tags

To make sure you have high retention of NAIT-approved radio frequency identification device (RFID) ear tags, they should be applied:

  • To the inner part of the ear, preferably the right, between the two veins
  • Close to the head
  • With the ‘female’ tag facing forward

What’s the difference between HDX and FDX technology?

HDX and FDX technology differs both in price and functionality. You can choose either option to be NAIT-compliant.

HDX technology is higher performing than FDX and has a longer read range. It also has protection from outside acoustics that may interfere with tag reading in a noisy environment; for example, milking sheds.

FDX technology is a lower cost option and has a shorter read range than the HDX tags. It also has no protection from outside acoustics.
